The overall goal of the project is to study the social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on Canadians so that we can respond in a way that optimizes the overall resilience of our society. Our objective is to understand the impact of public policies on prejudice (e.g. towards people of Chinese origin) and behaviour in the context of the crisis. First, a longitudinal pan-Canadian questionnaire is distributed to a large sample every two weeks over a 5-month period to provide a global portrait of the Canadian population in times of crisis. Next, a series of experimental studies will be conducted, testing, among other things, the effectiveness of different formulations of public messages on the population's adherence to them. A qualitative study (interviews) will also be conducted to understand how people of Chinese origin in Canada are experiencing the current crisis.
